The Syllabus and Assessment
This course prepares you for the Edexcel AS-Level syllabus 8B101/107 (AS) and 9B101/107 (A2). It is open to candidates taking their exam at international centres only.
Assessment at AS-Level is by three written papers, two of 1 hour and 15 minutes and one of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Assessment at A2-Level is by three written papers, each of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
No practical work is required in the examination itself, but you are expected to develop experimental skills, and a knowledge and understanding of experimental techniques, by carrying out a range of practical experiments and investigations. Paper 3 at both AS and A2 levels will assess your knowledge and understanding of experimental procedures and techniques that were developed when you did those experiments. You will thus need access to a well equipped and supervised laboratory while studying the course. The course will provide you with guidance with all your practical work.
The Distance Learning Course
Your study texts and your online learning file will contain everything you need to start studying right away. The course is designed specifically to cover the above syllabus. So you can be confident that you will learn everything you need to achieve a high grade in the examination.
