IGCSE Geography


This exciting distance learning course covers three major areas: the natural environment, people in their environments and global issues. It will give you broad understanding of communities and cultures around the world and how they are impacted and constrained by different environments.

Key Aims of the Course

The course aims to enable you to develop:

  • a sense of place and an understanding of relative location on a local, regional and global scale;
  • an awareness of the characteristics and distribution of contrasting physical and human
    environments;
  • an understanding of some of the processes affecting the development of such environments;
  • an understanding of the spatial effects of the ways in which people interact with each other and with
    their environments;
  • an understanding of different communities and cultures throughout the world and an awareness of the
    contrasting opportunities and constraints presented by different environments.

Syllabus and Assessment


The course is designed to prepare you for the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus 0460. Assessment is through one 1 hour and 45 minute and two 1 hour and 30 minute papers. The exam is set in June and November of each year, starting in June 2011.

When you have completed each assignment, you send it to your tutor through our online learning management system for assessment. Your tutor will provide you with rapid and detailed feedback, so you'll remain motivated throughout the course and see your skills and knowledge improving month by month.
